Breakfast at Dawn

Its been snowing for three days now, I decide to fire up the red truck and go for a early morning cruse. Its always fun to be the first person to make tracks in the new snow. Visibility is about a half a mile, although a bit blurry with the falling snow, I made tracks past the snowplow drivers house and on out into the open valley. Thinking I was pretty cute, being the first one up and all, I was certainly, surprised, rounding the bend, to find the breakfast club, finishing up and heading back home for a morning nap. Ma Nature always has one more enteraining thing to spring on you. How many times have I missed it by staying home ?

"Snow Whispers"

For you folks that have never heard them, let me explain, you can't hear them, you can only imagine the sound it must make. Now Willis the wonderdog might hear something once in a while, but he's not sharing it, only his look out the window, that makes you think something is going on. There is no wind, no noise at all, just thousands of snowflakes floating down out of nowhere, settling gently 3 inches deep on the edge of a board fence. Now my mind tells me there has got to be a bit of joggleing, a push, or shove, a snow elbow in the ribs, all those flakes trying to sit on the same limb. I can hear the low mass exhale and hum of satisfaction that comes from thousands of tiny flakes securing their place on the edge. Dawn comes, exposing all the tiny flakes stacked hundreds deep on a tiny limb, proudly displaying their gymnastic ability of balance, when suddenly mother natures exhales a breath and everybody tumbles to the ground.
whooooo...ahhhhh freefall.

Mother nature's humor

Woke up to a few inches of new snowfall, heavy overcast, cannot see the tops of the nearby hills.
Always liked those mornings after a snow, when everything is quiet and still. I brewed a cup of joe and fired up the red truck and drove up to the top of Fish Creek pass for a possible view of the sunrise. It was all for nothing, complete overcast, as it got lighter I turned around to start back down, when a spot opens in the clouds and a beam of light shines down into the valley. Just a teaser from mother nature on an otherwise gloomy day.

God's paintbrush

For some inexplicable reason, God every once in a while, choose's to amaze we mortals by putting on a show, no human could ever match. One winters evening, maybe in an attempt to
gives us a break from the long months of winter, this appeared just outside of my window.
My humble attempt at capturing the image, cannot come close to matching the reality of standing in the street with the sky surrounding you, but it will have to do. Every time I see it, I am taken back to that moment.
